In the workshop, we will split time between instruction and laboratory sessions, learning how to use the Audacity® software through the completion of creative exercises. Participants will learn to input and layer audio files within the software, cut apart, remove, and duplicate sounds to create new compositions, and export audio for a variety of uses, including podcasting and streaming video. Participants will practice the basics of “cleaning” of original recordings to remove background noise and enhance vocal quality. Participants will also engage in the creation of their own, short, time-based projects to build lasting connections between workshop content and participants’ own creative processes. We will also reserve time for smaller, affinity-group discussions, providing opportunities for participants to self-identify areas of interest to continue discussion with a broader group (technical capabilities, design opportunities, assignment design, etc.).
